Based on a True Story....

Once upon a time, in a land far away, a beautiful blonde princess came accross a precious gem, in the shape of a blood red rose. The moment she saw it she knew it would be the perfect present for her long lost flame haired friend. She guarded it safely through the remainder of her treacherous travels, trekking through jungles, leaping from aeroplanes and even on occasion washing from a bucket, until she could finally return to her homeland and present the treasure to her cherished friend.

Her friend was so impressed with the beauty of the rose that she swore to wear it close to her heart for all eternity, but little did she know trouble was afoot. Within the month the evil witch Misfortune stole the jewel from her, from right underneath her nose, and no matter how hard she tried, and how often she retraced her steps, the rose was nowhere to be found. The princess was bitterly sad that such a precious present was never to be seen again.

Some time later the dust had settled and the tears had finally dried, and the cold winter ice was starting to freeze over the homeland of the two friends. Then, one bright frosty morning, the flame haired girl's older sister thought that maybe she could warm the chill in her baby sibling's heart, and bought her a bright sparkly jar of junk from the charity shop, as junk was always the way to cheer her up.

The coloured beads were working a little, raising a glimmer of a smile from our flame haired friend. Then, lo and behold! The Rose! Tangled in amongst the plastic necklaces and odd earrings was the sparkly red rose jewel the blonde princess had bought for her, it had come home! She vowed never to let it leave her sight again, as from now on it is not only a precious gem from a special friend, but also a little bit spooky!

Not very believeable is it?!.......

In at number 2... the penultimate coolest boring item ever... the Dead Fred pen holder - suitable for even the most homicidal of office workers!

But my personal favourite, in the number 1 spot tonight... the Voodoo knife rack - pure simple genius, what more can I say?!

Fruity Jewellery

There's no better antidote to the cake I've been wearing than a nice healthy dose of fruit to up the Vitamin C levels as we slide shivering into winter! The sparkling gem's of Anna Lou of London's cherries cheer me up no end, and hers is by far the grooviest shop in Soho these days! Luster Jewelry have come up with such incredibly cute strawberry earrings that they make my face hurt from smiling too much.

Other offerings are the beautiful Apple Pendant from jewellerylove.co.uk, and a little bit of shameless self-promotion of Foundlings Jewellery's Fruit slice earrings - OK so maybe I am their creator, but it doesn't make me love them any less!

Invisible Furnishings

I have coveted the Philippe Starck Louis Ghost Chair for a very long time, and as soon as I get a house to put it in I will surely have to have one ( or maybe 2), but now I would also like to accessorise a whole room with invisible furniture! Should act as a welcome breathing space from the teacup and Barbie chandeliers which will be brightening up the rest of the place! Bring on the Essey Illusion Table , the Ghost Candelabra , and these very groovy Floating Shelves.

And obviously the whole room will be painted white, and out of bounds to children, food, pets, and all other messy or dangerous beings!!!

Crowning Glory?

I'm a hairdresser and a slightly alternative jewelllery designer, and I can never understand why the whole world doesn't think of hair as part of a mixed media project... These punky adornments are great, the first sums up my style perfectly! And Alice Tinker, what can I say, but a largely overlooked style icon with a mind all of her own (and in 'real life' my own clever mum actually made the Dibley wedding tiara!).
